Go The Extra Mile

Living a life of service is not easy. Even in our jobs we tend to lose focus of the fact we are ministering spirits…Ministering God’s Grace in various forms. In a recent encounter, I was reminded of the difference one can make for another human being just by going the extra mile…

  • Do you find people have become a bother to you?
  • Are you tired of the interruptions people cause?
  • Are you irritated by others?
  • Do you find it an inconvenience to assist someone in need?
  • Do you find yourself saying “That’s not my job”

Trust me…If you feel people are an inconvenience or a burden  they know how you feel!!!

Perhaps…it is time to get back to the basics of Christianity…

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.  1 Peter 4:9-11

It is often refered to as customer service but I like to think of it as Christianity…Treating others as you would like to be treated. We must treat people with love and respect…You have the power to make a difference in someone’s life by going the extra mile.

It is human nature to want to be loved. In-fact some will go to great lengths to be loved and accepted by others. Often they compromise who they are, what they believe, and what they stand for all  for the sake of this acceptance.  They will accept love in any form to fill this need.

On the other hand there are those who are firm in their convictions, know what they believe, know they are loved and will not compromise even to gain the acceptance of others. They will not be moved.

If I were to choose a theme song for my life this would be it…

Under the Influence

The influence of negativity is very contagious…I pray daily God will protect my heart and mind and allow me to remain positive and not succumb to the negativity which I am often bombarded by. Do I always measure up…NO ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

However, because I am soooo incredibly opposed to negativity and the influence it has on others, I am in constant pursuit of knowledge related to dealing with negative people. The article below does an excellent job of providing strategies for dealing with negative people. I wish I had read it yesterday…

Make An Impact

There are days my heart is weighed down, times when I feel a heaviness but find all it takes is a good word from a friend, a smile from a stranger, a hug from a co-worker and my frown turns upside down.

He Is My World

In a recent communication with a precious friend, I shared my itinerary from now through the month of June…She commented, “You need a personal assistant”…

That comment has rolled through my head many times!!! Then like a lightening bolt flashing before my eyes it came to me…I have one!!!

Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.Psalms 54:4

Without His presence at this time in my life, I would be a total failure…

He makes my paths straight

He goes before me

He fights my battles

He keeps me singing

He is my light

He Is My World!!!

Think About It

In a recent conversation I suddenly realized…This person has not said one positive or encouraging word much less a positive or encouraging sentence.

Have you been in conversations like that?  A conversation  in which every flaw is pointed out or every statement you make is debated? Then, before you know it you begin to doubt yourself and even worse, get sucked into the negativity or begin to try to defend yourself…

It was during this recent conversation I snapped and mentally said to myself “Girl, you don’t have to listen to this! God says ___________.” The blank was filled with all the promises God has provided for my life, the blessings He has and is going to pour out on my life, the grace and mercy He has shown to date.  Wow…What an enlightening moment! As I am having this epiphany the words of negativity are no longer descernable and I only hear…

 “Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah”

It was the coolest thing ever!!! God began to protect my ears from the negativity and allowed my focus to move to Him!!!  I choose not to think of the negative, mean, and hurtful things humans may try speak over me, my life, or my family.

 Instead I will Think About These Things…

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8

It’s OK to Cry

Sometimes life is hard, pain comes into all our lives and with that comes the associated emotions.

It is a privilege for a parent to be able to teach their children how to handle all of life’s experiences. If your children see you grieve and cry when the situation calls for such emotion, it gives them the freedom to experience those same emotions.

On several occasions I have heard friends or family say, “I don’t want anyone to see me cry”.  However…

There is a time for everything…a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance. Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

The release of emotions associated with a good cry is very healthy and it is especially important for sons to know that men can cry without their manhood being threatened. Teach your children about the realities of life and give them the freedom to express the appropriate emotions for each situation.

You don’t have to be so tough!

Being Transparant

A Love Lee Place ♥

Recently I met  a young woman at Quintana Beach her name was Sarah Parent and from the moment we met it was as though we had been friends for ever. She was energetic, passionate, and innovative in her thinking. In just a matter of minutes I knew she and I would be friends for a very long time. As we were saying our goodbyes I told her it felt as though I had known her forever and I was going to miss her terribly. Her response was profound and made perfect sense. She said, “It is because I am transparent and it is easier when two  transparent people meet”. While I have always been a people person I had never heard it defined as transparent. It is usually when I drop all pretense and I allow others to get to know me that life long friendships are birthed. 

As I was reflecting on this concept I thought of one person that was totally transparent; The Apostle Paul.  He did not put on pretense but instead was very open about his life and about his weaknesses. His weakness became an opportunity for the power of God to be active and evident to and for others. When Paul reflected on his weakness, he was soberly realistic. In 2 Corinthians he allows us to see into his heart, to understand his hurts and his deepest longings. All for the glory of God!

I love living a transparent life. There is little to keep up with. Do I mess up? You bet I do!!! But my motto is “I screw up…I fess up!”  meaning it is vital to be transparent with God because bottom line…He knows!!! Then in keeping with being transparent, I share my experience so hopefully someone else will learn from my successes and my mistakes.
