Tread Softly on My Dreams

I remember in our early years of marriage Richard and I would sit for hours and dream of the future. Believe it or not…We still do!!! I love sitting out on the swing while having coffee and listening to him as shares his thoughts and dreams.  Oh, and I so love the fact he is interested in mine!

When sharing my dreams with others, it is such a reality check to be reminded of my age… The buzz words are “at your age”…I am not quite ready to be an “old woman” and at times can be a  sensitive subject for me; I sooo miss my youth!!!

I love this quote by James Dean:”Dream as if you’ll live forever… live as if you’ll die today.” I have always adopted this mindset. We only get one chance in life remembering… Dreams can often become challenging, but challenges are what we live for. ~ Travis White

Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born. ~ Dale E. Turner.  So, as Justin Bieber would say…”If you don’t dream big, there’s no use of dreaming. If you don’t have faith, there’s nothing worth believing.”

Having a dream is all the more realistic when I dare to dream with the person I love the most in this world. It is even more special when we both have individual dreams but they are amplified because they complement each other and are intertwined. For me to have a dream and my husband’s dream is the act of creating what I dream for…That is God in His awesomeness further amplifying how we compliment or complete each other….A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality. ~John Lennon

Do you have a dream you are afraid to share with others? Don’t be!

Speak up…Share your dream and conclude with…

I have spread my dreams beneath your feet. Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. ~W.B. Yeats

Powering Up

Wow…soft music playing, scented plug-ins, accent lamps…Yep, everything is perfect as I walk out the door for work. A scheduled appointment to show our home was set for the early afternoon. I returned home at 6pm to find a silent house, I can’t smell the plug-ins, and my accent lamps are off.

Yes, you guessed it…the rain storm that blew through took out the power.

Of all days for this to happen! But isn’t that just like our lives?

When we least expect it a storm blows through and we lose our power. With the disconnect from our power source; Jesus Christ, we begin to stop speaking in love, our lights go out, and we begin to stink..

Thank goodness once we plug back into Jesus Christ we power up and our light is restored, our responses are tempered with love, and we take on His sweet aroma…

So, the next time you find yourself out of energy…

Power Up!!!

God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. 2 Samuel 22:33

How ‘Bout It…Church Today?

Recently we shared a meal with friends. When the food was served, without giving it a thought my husband picked up his fork and began to eat. One of the friends said to him “Aren’t you going to bless it?”. His response was priceless…”I already asked God to”.

You see my husband takes the scripture “Pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 literally. He strives to be in a constant state of prayer; communing with his heavenly Father…

If we all were to take this approach to prayer can you imagine what the world would be like on a daily basis? We would be in church every day!!!

For the man who prays in his heart, the whole world is a church. – Sylvain of Athos

Truth or Consequenses~Makes Sense To Me

Have you ever wondered how you could possibly delight the Lord? How you, all by yourself, could bring Him pleasure.  David, a man after God’s own heart knew and shares the answer…

…the LORD’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love. Psalms 147:11

Wow…Fear the Lord and put your hope in His unfailing love…Sounds easy right? Obviously not…

Today we often remove the focus from fear as it has such a negative connotation and instead we focus on the God’s love. But as with everything there should be a healthy balance. We should not forget that while God loves us He also expects us to be attentive to His commands.  In addition, we should remember there will be consequences for those who fail to follow His instructions.

Think about it, because we as parents want to protect our children from harm we often have to utilize discipline to enforce the concepts we are trying to instill in our kids. God is no different!!! Through His word He conveys His expectations and when we are not yielding to those expectations we leave Him with no alternative but to use discipline.

“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.”  Hebrews 12:6

Now, I don’t know about you but before I disciplined my children I always reminded them of the rules and gave them a warning…If ______(the behavior) doesn’t stop you can expect_______(the discipline).

God establishes the expectation and the discipline…

Shhh…Listen

Growing up as a little girl, I always tried to be respectful and obedient to the voice of my parents; especially when they were expressing their expectations.  Primarily because my parents would tolerate nothing less.

It was an expectation!

This morning during my quiet time, I was reminded it is no different with God.

“but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”  Proverbs 1:33

Wow…If we are feeling vulnerable, uncomfortable, or in fear…Perhaps we are not listening to His voice!

To ignore my parents voice usually lead to negative consequences but to obey yielded safety, harmony and there was no fear. It is no different with God…Perhaps we need to start listening!!!

Shhh…Listen

Can You Hear Him?

Enough Said…

I Love This Saying!!!

Preach the Gospel, and if necessary use words. ~ Unknown

I have never been one to shove God down anyone’s throat. To do so would imply the Holy Spirit does not exist. I would rather allow the Holy Spirit to draw people to Christ.

If He chooses me to be His instrument may I…

  • To listen to His voice
  • To see Him in all His Glory
  • To taste His Goodness
  • To feel His Presence
  • To smell His sweet aroma

My Daily Prayer: “Here I am Lord, use me

I Won!!!

I remember as a little girl playing a game with my classmates and friends called “Duck…Duck…Goose”.  We would all sit in a circle and one person would go around the tapping each person on the head and labeling us as a duck or a goose. There was only one goose and everyone wanted to be the goose…

She would walk around the circle ” Duck…Duck…Duck…Duck…GOOSE”. Yeah…It was me!!! I am the  GOOSE…I would jump up and chase her around the circle trying to catch her before she was able to get back to the slot where I had been sitting.

You know, looking back, I didn’t want to get up and run around the circle…I just wanted to CHOSEN.

Life is much like a game of Duck…Duck…Goose. Jesus walks around our lives and He chooses us wanting us to chase after Him…

The coolest part of it all is He didn’t choose me because I am

  • Perfect
  • Popular
  • Beautiful
  • Thin
  • Tall
  • Rich
  • Famous

He chose me because He loves me!!! He says…

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. John 15:16

Wow!!! He chose me, trusted me with an assignment and THEN…He promised to give me the desires of my heart!!!

Now that is better than any game of Duck…Duck…Goose I have ever played and already

I WON!!!

Choose Now

What are your choices?  Whom are your choices for? Not just for yourself.

Choose now whom you will serve, and that choice is going to affect the next generation, and the next generation, and the next.

Choice never affects just one person alone.  It goes on and on and the effect goes out into geography and history.

You are part of history and your choices become part of history.

-Edith Schaeffer

“But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15

I love this scripture! In-fact so much so, it is the displayed at my front door so all who enter know…

As for me and my house…We Will Serve the Lord!

Don’t Look Back

Do you find yourself looking back at your past?

“… forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NLT)

Look to the future my friend…He has Great Plans For You!!!

Take a Good Look in The Mirror

Have you found yourself…

  • Laughing at a joke you didn’t find funny?
  • In a place you have no desire to be?
  • Engaging in a conversation you don’t want to have?
  • Wearing clothes you don’t enjoy wearing?
  • Doing things you don’t enjoy doing?

Have you asked yourself why…I believe human beings are so hard on themselves and seek the affirmation of others to validate their existence. They often say and do things   in order to “fit in” or “be liked”  and lose their unique identity in doing so.

I love this quote by Susan Jeffers…

“Remove those ‘I want you to like me’ stickers from your forehead
and, instead, place them where they truly will do the most good —
on your mirror!”

Be all He created you to be and learn to like yourself…
